Description
New Plate Current Matched Quad of Psvane EL34PH Metal Base Philips Replica Vacuum Tubes
One of Psvane’s most treasured and interesting tubes, the EL34PH is a near-exact replica of the flagship EL34 developed by Philips/Amperex in Holland in the 1950’s. Only the earliest versions had a metal base, and as they are regarded as the best EL34 in the world, Psvane has even added that fine detail to this tube. If you’re after the European British EL34 tone, look no further - these are all you need. The biggest difference between the original tube and this replica is that these are upgraded with gold pins.
A Note on Psvane Packaging & Matching
You are most likely familiar with seeing Psvane tubes sold in proprietary Psvane packaging, factory tested, and/or matched in pre-made sets. In order to provide a wider variety of sets (including singles), we hand-test and match all models that we carry in-house. We test and/or match by Gm, Ip (plate current) and/or gain with a maximum range of +/- 15% on modern Maxi-Matcher testers. While 15% is our maximum, we strive for 5% when possible. This ensures that we are able to match to our high standards. These tubes come boxed individually.
Extended Guarantee
We offer a full one-year guarantee covering functional defects - including noise. The guarantee period begins the day you receive your order.

Maybe the best EL34 out there,,, But there is a caveat.
When I first purchased these tubes for my Willsenton R8 paired with my Sylvania 6SL7GT/6SN7GT tubes I was sorely disappointed in the sound, especially for the high price these tubes command. The tubes sounded bright and thin so I ended up leaving them in a box for a long time. I recently obtained a set of RCA "smoked glass" 6SN7/6SL7 along with a pair of Tung-Sol "smoked glass" 6SL7 tubes. These tubes sounded terrible, too much warmth and with no top end. I thought, what if I paired them with the Psvane EL34PH tubes which sounded too bright? Well, I was struck at how balanced the sound came out. The shrill high end softened and smoothed out and the weak bottom tightened up. More surprisingly was how expansive the soundstage became. My Polk R700 loudspeakers literally became a wall of sound. Because of room layout I can't get precise imaging but I noted that there was some sense of real depth in the sound, albeit limited. It was however a lot better than what I had encountered before with my layout. This proves the adage that synergy between the tubes, amplifier and speakers play a huge role in how the sound comes out. The Psvane El34PH gets a big thumbs up from me. If you buy a set of these tubes, and are dissatisfied with it's sound, you have to experiment with different preamp tubes to get the most out of them,
